How to Deliberately Achieve Success at Work

2017 is a year of being deliberate in all you do, if you want to achieve success.  It's never too late to start over. If you weren't happy with yesterday, try something different today. Don't stay stuck. Do better.

What does “success at work” mean to you?

Being successful means the achievement of desired visions and planned goals. Success can be a certain social status that describes a prosperous person that could also have gained fame for its favorable outcome.

The dictionary describes success as: “attaining wealth, prosperity and/or fame”.

“Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.”- Albert Einstein

In the light of this discussion, we should measure success at work by the value that we add to our self, business and community.  To become a person of value, you must be deliberate. Being deliberate simply means for something to be “done consciously and intentionally.”  In order to do something “consciously” and “intentionally”, you need to know exactly what you want to do (value).

To deliberately achieve success at work, you need a game plan:

1. The first tool in your game plan is to have a PURPOSE or set a desired GOAL.

Knowing exactly what you want to achieve will help guide your focus and energy appropriately. Without a PURPOSE or GOAL, you will be chasing too many things, and at end of the year, you will discover that you have not achieved much or anything. Your focus would have been on the less important things at work.

2. The second tool in your game plan is to have a PLAN.

You need a plan that would detail the actions to be taken to enable you achieve the set goal. The PLAN should show actions to be taken hourly, daily, weekly and monthly.  Your PLAN should capture rest and relaxation time, in order to ensure that it is balanced.

3. A beautifully drawn up plan is worth nothing without EXECUTION. This brings us to the third tool in your game plan.
You need to diligently and meticulously work (EXECUTE) the plan, in order to achieve success. There are days and times you might not feel like working the plan. Reminding yourself of the purpose and/or set goal should ginger you to get back on track.

4. The fourth tool in your game plan is to constantly REVIEW your plan against your daily execution.

Continuous REVIEW will ensure that you stay on track to achieving success at work. REVIEW is some sort of measurement of the progress in executing the plan. As we all know, “what is not measured is not treasured” hence, this tool is very critical, if we are to achieve success at work or in anything we set out to do.

5. Finally, you need to STAY POSITIVE.

It has been said over and over again that positive energy attracts positive outcomes. STAYING POSITIVE is like smiling at someone. The immediate reaction is a reciprocal smile. A positive state of mind will keep your energy high and ensure the required motivation to reaching your goal.

I look forward to reading your comments on how applying these tips impact your situation.
