Be Deliberate

At the end of each year, especially at crossover nights, it has become a ritual for spiritual leaders to declare a prophetic word for the New Year, which incidentally becomes the theme for the year. In addition, people also make resolutions or set goals of what they would like to achieve in the New Year.

Notwithstanding how nice this yearly act might be, it is not enough to ensure the actualisation of the theme or goals, as more work is required to do this. Declaration is not enough either. Likewise dreaming is not enough. And wishing.

You have to do more if you are ever going to bring the theme or goals to fruition before the end of the year. You have to be deliberate. Brian Tracy aptly puts it this way - “when you are not working deliberately, consciously, and continuously to do, be, and have those things that constitute success for you, you end up doing those fun, easy, and low-value things in the short term that lead to frustration, financial worries, and failures in the long term.”

Being deliberate in all you do is the sure recipe that would aid the actualisation and/or execution of the declaration and goals set in the New Year. There are only three requirements for success aptly described by the great oil man, H. L. Hunt, who was at one time the richest self-made billionaire in the world:

1) Decide exactly what it is you want in life – knowing exactly what you want in life will ensure that when you achieve your goal, you can easily point to it. If you are chasing everything, you will end up not achieving anything.

2) Determine the price that you are going to have to pay to get the things you want – this is the work that has to be done deliberately, consciously, and continuously if you are to actualise the declaration or execute the set goals.

3) Resolve to pay that price – this is the most important of all the three. Resolving to pay the price requires you taking deliberate steps to make it happen. If you leave this to chance, then failure will be knocking at your door by the end of the year. However, if you pay the price, success will be yours by the end of the year.

As you go through 2018, be deliberate to decide, determine and resolve in all you do, and you will be amazed at the amount of success that will be waiting for you by the 31st of December 2018.
